During Farhad Moshiri’s reign in charge of Everton, the club made a number of big-money signings.
Moshiri, who joined in 2016, backed his managers with substantial budgets early on in his tenure, however, the money was spent really poorly.
Steve Walsh was the sporting director for the first couple of years under Moshiri but he was sacked in 2018 after several misses in the transfer market.
Marcel Brands was better but still signed off a number of really poor deals, like Jean-Philippe Gbamin, who never lived up to his £25m price tag.
However, one of his other expensive flops is now flourishing away from Goodison Park and could now make a sensational return to the Premier League with Newcastle United this summer transfer window.

Newcastle United interested in former Everton flop Moise Kean
When Everton signed Moise Kean from Juventus for around £27.5m in 2019, it was regarded as a real coup.
But, the young Italian striker managed just four goals in 39 appearances and was sold on a permanent deal back to Serie A.
Kean has now reinvented himself at Fiorentina with 19 goals in 31 outings this term, making him the second top scorer in the division behind Atalanta’s hotshot Mateo Retegui.
That’s alerted Newcastle United, who are considering a move for the former Everton striker, according to GiveMeSport.
The Magpies are considering opening talks to sign the 25-year-old, who is believed to have a £44m release clause in his contract.
West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur also eyeing Kean
The report further adds that West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are also showing an interest in Kean.
The two London clubs have been monitoring his performances this season and have asked to be kept informed of his situation as he makes his return from a head injury.
The Italy international sustained a worrying head injury last month but thankfully has been cleared to return to action.
