Everton are looking to sign a striker this summer, and they are now believed to be monitoring one who scores goals for fun.

The Toffees are in need of reinforcements up front with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract expiring and Jesper Lindstrom returning to Napoli without scoring a single goal.

David Moyes is set to have free rein to sign the players he wants at Everton, and he has four positions that he wants to improve with a number of players set to leave.

One position Everton want to improve is striker and they have been linked with several names. Recently, Callum Wilson was linked to Everton, but Leeds United look like they have stolen a march on the 33-year-old.

Now, the Toffees have been linked with another quality striker, but Everton fans have one huge concern about them.

Everton fans concerned over price of Aleksandar Mitrovic deal

Everton have been linked for a move with Al-Hilal striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who appears to be loving life in the Saudi Pro League.

In the 2024/25 campaign, Mitrovic scored 19 goals in 23 games, he also scored 28 goals in as many appearances the season before that.

The Serbian international has previously played Premier League football with Newcastle United and Fulham, and is now reportedly keen on returning to England after two years in Saudi Arabia.

Despite his goalscoring prowess, Everton fans are being severely put off by his £40m price tag which Al-Hilal are asking for him.

“Absolutely not 40 mil for an extremely old striker who ditched the prem for the Saudi league.” said one fan, while another added: “40 mill no chance.”

This Everton fan made a note of his age, as well as his price tag: saying: “31 in Sept, £40m valuation. Just going to send out a big old LOL at the idea!”

“No chance we are spending 40m on Mitro.” said this shocked Everton fan

Another fan added: “Want to sell or loan but you’re quoting 40 million are u foolish.”

Finally, this Everton fan said: “No thanks 40 mil for a 30 year old been out the prem 2 years too.”

Everton were also linked to Liam Delap, but the young striker has opted to join Chelsea instead this summer.

Aleksandar Mitrovic compared to Everton strikers

While he has been out of the Premier League since 2023, Mitrovic could still surely make an impact for Everton under Moyes’ tutoring.

There is no denying that £40m is a steep price tag for someone who now plays in the Saudi Pro League, but he has played to a high standard despite moving to a league with much lower quality.

Mitrovic scored 14 Premier League goals in his last season at Fulham, considerably more than what Calvert-Lewin managed, so it makes sense to let one leave and for the other to come in.

Additionally, Mitrovic would be a great player to partner with Beto. The 30-year-old is similar stylistically, so he could make an impact off the bench or form a terrific partnership with Guinea-Bissau international if he were to join.

The transfer window has only just opened, so there is plenty of time for Everton to negotiate with Al-Hilal and get the price down if they are to move forward with the deal.
