A journalist has admitted that he doesn’t think Everton’s takeover will happen.

Writing on his Twitter account, The Esk revealed that he doesn’t expect 777 Partners to gain control of Everton.

After months of protests, Everton fans finally looked set to get their wish after Farhad Moshiri confirmed that he had agreed a deal to sell his 94% shares in the club.

Miami-based investment firm 777 Partners are expected to take over the Toffees, with a sale expected to be completed before the end of the year.

However, The Esk is very doubtful that the firm have the funds to complete the deal and doesn’t expect it to reach a conclusion.

A fan asked the finance journalist: “Given 777’s nature, do you expect them to leverage the assets of the club heavily to maximise their returns?”

Is selling Everton to 777 Partners the right decision?

The Esk then replied saying: “There’s nothing left to leverage against. Maybe the stadium when completed, but currently everything is mortgaged to the hilt. I don’t expect 777 to gain control of Everton.”

There has been a lot of criticism surrounding 777 Partner’s potential takeover, with the firm seemingly one of the worse options that Moshiri could take up to replace him at the helm.

While they already have the likes of Genoa, Sevilla and Standard Liege on their books, it is apparent that some of their other club’s supporters are also against their ownership – just like Everton are with Moshiri.

The Toffees clearly can’t afford the mess that they are currently in and need big investment, but they may have to wait for another alternative to 777 Partners.
