There are several obstacles between Everton and being able to sign Jack Harrison on a permanent basis.

Everton signed Jack Harrison on a season-long loan deal from Leeds United in the recent summer transfer window.

Having arrived at Goodison Park with an injury, the winger has finally come into the team in recent weeks and has hit the ground running for the Toffees.

Harrison opened his account for the Merseyside club with a spectacular long-range strike against Bournemouth last time out in the Premier League.

Everton fans are certainly already excited about how much more may be to come from the 26-year-old over the course of the rest of the campaign.

Sean Dyche seems to be able to get a tune out of Harrison, and may already be keen to try to keep the player at Everton for the long-term.

However, securing a permanent deal for the loanee will not be a straightforward process, and could be entirely out of Everton’s fans.

Too early for Harrison transfer talk

According to Everton expert journalist, Joe Thomas, speaking to Leeds Live, the Toffees face a tough task in signing Harrison on a permanent basis.

Explaining the hurdles that Everton face, he said, “a lot of water needs to pass under the bridge before this can be considered. Everton could end up in a relegation fight this season and the club’s finances are problematic with uncertainty about whether they will stabilise over the course of the season.”

“It is already clear Harrison is a Dyche player though. The key factor may well be whether Leeds United get promoted this season or not. A return to the Premier League would strengthen the club’s financial position and that is unlikely to help Everton.”

If Everton are able to retain their top flight status this season, and Leeds remain mired in the second tier, then the door could open for a deal for Harrison to be done. However, as with so many other things to do with Everton at this time, plenty depends of the status of the ownership and the financial situation at the club.

All of that is also assuming that the Toffees will have an appetite to strike a permanent deal at the end of the season. The wide man has started well, but there is still a long way to go before he can be considered an unquestionably successful acquisition.
