Everton youngster Tom Cannon has been called up by Sean Dyche to join the Blues on their pre-season trip to Switzerland.
The Toffees departed for their pre-season training camp this morning ahead of Friday’s fixture against Swiss side Nyon, and 20-year-old Tom Cannon has travelled, meaning he could be given the chance to impress.
Indeed, the ‘outstanding’ forward had a stellar campaign last season while on loan at Championship side Preston North End, scoring eight goals in 20 outings, and contributing one assist.

Everton are desperate for fire power up front this season and Tom Cannon could have the opportunity to gain more first team experience following Ellis Simms’ £3.5m move to Coventry City.
Dyche has included a number of Everton’s U-21 squad for the trip to Switzerland, and could offer a chance to the club’s youngsters to work their way into his plans, and no doubt Cannon will be particularly eager to impress.
Tom Cannon could be utilised by Everton next season, but club must still sign further striking reinforcements
It is no secret that Everton are after a forward this summer, but recently lost out on one of the club’s primary targets in Viktor Gyokeres, who looks set to complete an £18.5m move to Sporting CP from Coventry City.

Indeed, while the Blues are searching for striking reinforcements in the transfer market, Cannon has the chance to impress the Everton boss, and could offer a real alternative to the £15m Neal Maupay.

Everton face trips to Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City in the coming weeks, before welcoming Portugal’s Sporting CP to Goodison Park, where Everton fans may get to see what they missed out on in Viktor Gyokeres.
However, these fixtures offer academy players and those on the fringes of Everton’s squad the chance to impress Sean Dyche, and with the club’s threadbare options, a few goals from the 20-year-old forward could go a long way.
