Everton host West Ham United this weekend, looking to finally register their first win of 2024.

It was late heartbreak last time out as Brighton and Hove Albion snatched a late equaliser to deny Sean Dyche’s side a 1-0 win on the South Coast.

The Toffees also have injury concerns of their own and are currently assessing Idrissa Gana Gueye and Amadou Onana ahead of David Moyes’ side’s visit to Goodison Park.

“He’s (Gueye) still settling down,” Dyche told the media on Thursday. “Amadou’s got a groin thing similar to Gana which is just settling down so we’ll make more of a decision on them tomorrow.”

The Hammers head to Merseyside in good form, beating Brentford 4-2 on Monday evening.

Ahead of the game, Paul Merson has predicted who thinks will win on Saturday afternoon.

In his weekly Sportskeeda column, the Sky Sports pundit has backed Dyche’s men to finally end their wait for three points.

Everton got an absolutely massive boost earlier this week as their points deduction was reduced to six from ten, which will allow them to play without fear between now and the end of the season,” he said.

“They aren’t safe yet, but their situation isn’t as bad as it was before, so they just have to ensure they don’t lose too many games.

“Sean Dyche and Co have some nice fixtures coming up, and Goodison Park will be absolutely bouncing ahead of this game.

“I think they will make it count and secure a massive win that will take them another step closer to Premier League safety. Everton 2-1 West Ham.”

Make it count

Between now and the end of the season, fixtures at home will be absolutely vital.

Goodison Park can be a difficult place to come, and with Burnley, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and Brentford all still to visit, the Toffees will be expected to pick up the points required to maintain their Premier League status.

The performances, particularly from a defensive standpoint, have been impressive. It’s up to those at the top end of the pitch to end Everton’s long wait for a Premier League win.
