Phil Foden has praised Everton for their ‘difficult’ performance at Goodison Park last night.

Phil Foden travelled to Merseyside yesterday as Manchester City took on Everton under the lights.

The Toffees had picked up four consecutive wins in December, but were without victory in their last three in all competitions since losing on penalties in the Carabao Cup to Fulham last week.

Man City were certainly penetrable though, having won only one of their last six games in the Premier League – whilst also conceding 12 goals.

Everton gained the potential to cause an upset when former Man City man Jack Harrison handed them the lead on the half hour mark.

However, a much improved second half display saw Foden, Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva claim all three points for the defending champions.

It definitely isn’t the result Everton would have wanted and it has left them only a point above the relegation zone, but Foden still believes they are a ‘top side’.

Speaking to Amazon Prime Video after the match, the 23-year-old said: “I’d like to praise Everton, they have been doing really well at the minute, they’re a top side and they make it difficult. Really happy with the result, it’s a difficult place to come.”

Everton looked very capable of claiming a win against Man City last night, but it is sometimes hard to compete with the sheer talent that they have among their ranks.

Sean Dyche‘s side were let down by a controversial handball and it may have gone a different way if the penalty wasn’t given, but a dominant second half meant goals for Man City were pretty inevitable.

Can Everton return to winning ways against Wolves?

It does leave Everton in a concerning position in the table, but they definitely held their own against both Tottenham and Man City and can go into the trip to Wolves still feeling very confident.

Gary O’Neil’s side are doing very well at the minute, having just beaten Brentford 4-1 on their own patch.

Wolves have lost only one of their last five games and have already beaten the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City this term.

Wolves are also unbeaten at home since a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in September – picking up 15 points from a possible 21 at Molineux Stadium.

A win for Everton though, could see them move up to 14th place in the Premier League table. Defeat could see them undeservedly return to the bottom three.
