Premier League CEO now hints when 777 Partners can expect Everton takeover decision

Everton’s ongoing feud with the Premier League and Richard Masters seems unlikely to be cut short anytime soon.

The Toffees have been hamstrung on numerous occasions by their own division this season alone, and with news breaking yesterday detailing plans to punish them once again for financial misconduct, for many, this was the final straw.

If they thought the protests back in late November and early December were bad, Goodison Park is surely set to turn it up a notch now.

Well, it is not just deductions that the Premier League has jurisdiction over at the moment, with Everton’s takeover also awaiting approval from that governing body.

Speaking to Parliament earlier today, Masters finally shone some light on proceedings, just a day after he was lambasted for a ‘tone-deaf‘ statement.

What Richard Masters said about Everton’s takeover

Having been quizzed on various issues contributing to the growing unrest of his institution, Masters found himself in numerous tricky spots trying to explain why the Toffees were under such scrutiny.

One such notion was the proposed takeover, which has come under plenty of its own scrutiny due to the various controversies that surround 777 Partners.

Well, the CEO of the Premier League has hardly eased worries, suggesting that there has been a dismissive, almost passive attitude towards assuming control of the club from the Miami-based firm.

He claimed: ‘As soon as we have completed the process. If we haven’t had satisfactory answers to the questions we have asked, it takes a lot longer. This has gone on for a number of weeks. It’s going to take longer. Hopefully weeks.’

Journalist Paul Brown, who relayed that statement, would then offer his verdict: ‘Clear implication here is that Premier League have yet to receive satisfactory answers to the questions they have asked of 777. Team of forensic analysts looking at this for them.’

What is the current situation with 777 Partners’ Everton takeover?

What makes the situation so odd is the fact that Josh Wander and Farhad Moshiri actually struck a deal back in September.

Whilst it is never a speedy process to push through a takeover of such magnitude, especially with all the other hurdles that have needed conquering, few have seemingly dragged on for so long without any kind of update.

And with lawsuits coming thick and fast for 777 Partners, who are now reportedly being rivalled by another consortium, it could be argued that a takeover has never seemed less likely.

However, the Premier League have already showcased their penchant for questionable decision-making, and so we await whatever conclusion they come to with eagerness and anticipation.
