Premier League giants told they’ll have to ‘break the bank’ for £33m Everton star

Manchester United have been credited with a long-term interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.

According to The Liverpool Echo, Manchester United have been tracking Amadou Onana for some time, and are keen to secure the services of the Everton man.

However, the Red Devils will reportedly have to “break the bank” to prise the £33 million man away from Goodison Park any time soon.

It is unsurprising that the Toffees are so keen to retain Onana. In terms of raw talent, the 22-year-old is one of the hottest prospects currently on the books at the Merseyside club.

Onana is also a key figure in Sean Dyche’s plans. One of the regular lynchpins in midfield, the nine-cap Belgium international has started all eight of Everton’s Premier League matches so far.

It is equally obvious why Manchester United are keen on the 6’4” player. Casemiro isn’t getting any younger after all, and Erik Ten Hag may have earmarked Onana as a potential successor to the Brazilian veteran.

Now is not the time for Onana to move on from Everton

All that being said, there are still areas for improvement in Onana’s game. Dyche will recognise that the youngster can be guilty of lapses in concentration and doesn’t always make the best decisions when in possession.

The best thing for the midfielder, at this stage in his career, would be to stay at Everton, continue playing regularly, and work on improving the weaknesses in his game. If Onana can raise his level, then he may well be worthy of a large bid from Manchester United or another of the game’s giant clubs.

At that point, Everton would surely be wise to cash in on the former Lille man. Until then, they can expect him to remain a regular fixture for them in the middle of the park.
