Anthony Gordon’s wait for a chance in the Everton first-team rumbles on. With Bernard injured and Everton in EFL Cup action, some felt that last night’s game against Watford might be the perfect opportunity to give Gordon a place on the bench.
However, he was overlooked again and took to Twitter after the game with a message that could be described as cryptic.
Whilst the message could be completely unrelated, Everton need to start giving Gordon some sort of assurances regarding a first-team future soon if his patience is to hold up.
The 18-year-old has been in fine form for the under-23s and could easily argue he deserves a shot ahead of several under-performing first-teamers.
Capable on the wing or in attacking midfield, there is no doubt a case for the teenager to be given a chance.
If not, he might just start to look elsewhere.

MORE EVERTON STORIES
As reported by the Daily Mail a year ago, Gordon has admirers. Both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich were said to be interested in the player.
Everton eventually tied Gordon down to a pro deal lasting until 2023, so there is no worry of a Dan Gosling like episode.
But considering the growing trend for young English players to switch to German football in search of better opportunities Everton must be careful not to leave Gordon wishing for more.
By the end of the season, given the form he has been in, Gordon should easily have been handed a chance by Marco Silva.
If not, you can almost guarantee those German eyes and others will be transfixed on Gordon yet again.
