Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s red card against Crystal Palace has been revoked already however shockingly it remains on the record.

When Dominic Calvert-Lewin was sent off last week in the FA Cup tie against Crystal Palace down at Selhurst Park, it was evident that the referee had had a howler.

Before the decision was made, Palace ace Joachim Andersen was even seen assuring Calvert-Lewin that the outcome wouldn’t be a red card.

The red card was met with a baffled feeling from both sides with Sean Dyche particularly unhappy along with some of the Everton team.

However, the decision has now been overturned and Calvert-Lewin will be free to play on Sunday against Aston Villa and also for the replay against Palace.

But despite the card being overturned, there is a shocking FA rule which has left talkSPORT pundit Alan Brazil in disbelief.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s card remains on his record

Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday, Brazil was left appalled by the FA rule which sees Calvert-Lewin’s red card remain on his record, despite it being revoked.

“Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Everton, they won their appeal of course we know that against the three-match he faced for his FA Cup sending-off at Palace.”

Brazil then continued to explain that the red card remains on the striker’s record.

“But the striker’s card, while the claim of wrongful dismissal was upheld, the red card remains on the 26-year-old England star’s record under FA regulation.

“What does that mean? It means Calvert-Lewin would serve an extra match ban on top of any suspensions. Should he be dismissed for a second time the season for me that’s bonkers. Absolute nonsense. It’s not wiped. He gets an extra game if he gets sent off again.”

Everton will need Calvert-Lewin this Sunday

Despite the appalling FA rule, his return for this weekend comes at a much-needed time with Everton on the verge of five consecutive league defeats.

Facing Unai Emery’s title contenders, Dyche needs his best team out there to try and secure some points or at least stop the losing streak.

Calvert-Lewin’s aerial threat will be a massive plus against Villa and should come in handy against the likes of Pau Torres.
