Rangers fans have been reacting to Youssef Chermiti’s start to life at Ibrox following his £10m move from Everton in the summer transfer window.

Youssef Chermiti joined Rangers on transfer deadline day, ending his underwhelming two-year stay on Merseyside.

Chermiti left Everton without managing to score a single goal, so to recoup the vast majority of the £15m they paid Sporting two years prior was viewed as really good business.

The 21-year-old made his seventh appearance for the Scottish giants against Dundee United on Saturday, and here’s what supporters had to say about his display.

Rangers fans disappointed by Youssef Chermiti

Rangers fans haven’t been convinced by Chermiti so far, as he’s yet to get off the mark in seven appearances.

Here’s what they had to say about the former Everton star on X, formerly known as Twitter.

@JamieMccomb14 posted: “Still can’t get my head round we paid 8 or 10 million for Chermiti in he’s absolutely rotten.”

“Chermiti is totally talentless. Unbelievable,” @70Polygon added.

@NOTLFCJ__ said: “The £10m signing of Chermiti is probably the most scandalous thing I’ve ever seen.”

@christtocs commented: “How the owners allowed the Chermiti deal I’ll never know. I can’t fathom how you make a case for that signing?”

“Chermiti looks like he’s never seen a ball before,” @64doogz joked.

“Chermiti’s touch and control looks horrific for a player that cost £8m,” @moonman1873 admitted.

There is context around Youssef Chermiti’s poor start

In fairness to Chermiti, it’s been less than ideal circumstances since arriving at Ibrox, as manager Russell Martin made the worst start to a season in the club’s history.

Martin was sacked earlier this month after weeks of protests, and the Gers are still yet to appoint his replacement.

So for a young striker in Chermiti, it’s probably been really difficult to settle into a new club and city, which makes his poor performances understandable.

Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is in the frame to replace Martin, so perhaps if he’s appointed, the Portugal under-21 international will start to kick on.
