It was a night to forget for former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti who saw his Real Madrid taken apart by Arsenal.
Just days on from taking a point off Everton, the Gunners were in Champions League action in north London.
Mikel Arteta mentioned Everton after beating Madrid, with the Toffees able to put up a better fight than the reigning champions of Europe.
It will have been a sobering return to England for Ancelotti who departed Merseyside back in 2021.
His time in Madrid could be coming to an end, with Ancelotti being linked with the Brazil national job vacancy.
Despite getting his hands on numerous Champions League trophies, not all Madrid fans will be saddened to see him potentially leave.

Real Madrid fans issue Everton dig after defeat against Arsenal
Ancelotti shared some Everton praise after the Blues held Arsenal to a point on the weekend in the Premier League.
His side were not quite as impressive on Tuesday night as they tasted an emphatic 3-0 defeat to the Gunners.
Taking to social media, some Madrid fans have suggested that Ancelotti’s time at Everton was just the Italian finding his level.

| @yashrmfc | There’s a reason he was at Everton. |
| @_wangster | This is exactly what Carlo Ancelotti’s team looks like when he isn’t saved by individual brilliance. There is a reason why he was coaching Everton before us. |
| @nklaw | He’s tired of thinking, he needs to go back to Everton. |
| @jorubiang3422 | There’s definitely got to be a reason, he should just go back there. |
| @_ahmadnura | I have said this many times it wasn’t a coincidence he was at Everton. |
| @kh636540 | Awful… He should be sacked. |
Real Madrid prised Ancelotti away from Everton where he has since been able to get his hands on the Champions League trophy.
But with just one year remaining on his contract, his time at the Santiago Bernabeu could be coming to an end.
What Carlo Ancelotti said after Real Madrid’s loss to Arsenal
Not many people would be surprised to see a staggering second-leg comeback from the European giants, but they’re right up against it.
Gary Lineker hailed Ancelotti as one of the best managers ever despite what some Real Madrid fans are now saying.
If Madrid are to turn the tie on its head over in Madrid, it certainly would silence these fans who took to social media after Tuesday’s game.
But the 65-year-old is aware that it is going to be a big ask.
“We have to do everything we can to try and recover. The chances are pretty slim but we have to try, and we’ll try and do it any way we can,” he said.
“Let’s see if we can pull it off. It feels as though there’s no chance after tonight, but things always change in football.
“Nobody expected Arsenal to score two free-kicks, but anything can happen. It’s very tough, but stranger things have happened at the Bernabeu.”
