Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris must have been watching the wrong games as he seems to have got his Everton verdict all wrong.

It is a trip to Wearside for David Moyes where a return to his former club awaits the 62-year-old manager at the Stadium of Light.

Everton have tasted defeat in their last two outings, with back-to-back defeats coming against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The scoreline on Sunday against Spurs certainly flattered the visitors, but it did highlight a number of issues for the Toffees.

“We were disappointed to lose 3-0. I don’t think we had lost by that amount of goals since I came in. So, that was a disappointment. But I thought the performance was fine,” Moyes told the media on Friday.

Without a goal in their last two games, Everton News understands that Everton have a new striker on their radar ahead of January.

Which makes Le Bris’ Everton verdict even more puzzling following his press conference on Wearside ahead of Monday night’s game.

Regis Le Bris shares bizarre Everton verdict ahead of Sunderland clash

Heading into the weekend, Paul Merson made a bold prediction for Beto to end his goal drought against Sunderland.

Everton’s strikers have returned one Premier League goal all season and the Toffees have returned four goals in their last seven games.

So, when Le Bris shared his evaluation of Everton’s start to the season, it certainly will have baffled a few Everton fans.

“They are good. They have the ability to score, to win against everyone. There is an evolution in their squad. They are doing well,” said the Sunderland manager.

It has got to the point where Moyes has admitted he is considering a drastic change up front, with Beto and Thierno Barry potentially both being dropped.

If Le Bris is expecting a free-scoring Everton side to turn up on Monday evening then he could be in for a serious surprise.

Everton have only been able to score more than two goals in a game once this season, and that came against rock bottom side Wolves.

Sunderland manager must not have seen Everton against Tottenham

In another bizarre admission from the Sunderland boss, Le Bris paid compliment to Everton’s set piece play.

“They have many strengths. Strong wingers, ability to go direct, defend well, strong on set pieces. It’s another big challenge,” he added.

Ironically, it was Everton’s lack of composure in front of goal and poor defending from set pieces that cost them against Spurs.

Everton News is aware that Iliman Ndiaye will be offered a new Everton contract within the next 12 months because of his sublime form.

There is no doubting that Everton have looked strong out wide, but they were unable to deal with Tottenham from corners on Sunday.

It will surely be an area that Le Bris will have pointed out to his players, as will Moyes, who will be keen to iron out the errors on display against Spurs.
