Wilfried Gnonto could now turn down Everton in favour of a move to SC Freiburg.

That’s according to Bild, who have reported that the winger is ready to reject offers elsewhere as he really wants to join the Bundesliga

Gnonto has been on Everton’s radar all summer and has already been linked with Freiburg, as well as a number of clubs in Italy.

However, Goodison Park looked his most likely destination when he made himself unavailable for selection at Leeds United earlier this month.

The 19-year-old hasn’t featured since the Whites’ opening day clash with Cardiff City and is thought to be forcing through an exit.

Everton responded to his pleas with their fourth bid worth £25 million this week, though the Championship club have since reiterated their intention to keep hold of Gnonto.

Everton are continuing to push for the move, however it now appears the teenager has lost interest in completing a move back to the Premier League.

Freiburg has caught the eye of Gnonto, with the German side now prepared to smash their £10m record transfer to get a deal done.

Does Wilfried Gnonto want to join Freiburg or just leave Leeds United?

It has been very difficult to understand the transfer saga involving Wilfried Gnonto and Everton, with the Italy international going from wanting to return to Italy, to looking at Everton, to wanting to stay and Leeds then back to Everton. Now, Germany is the answer.

While Everton still look the most likely to land Gnonto and it also seems unlikely that Freiburg would match their £25m bid, it seems clear that the attacker simply doesn’t want to be at Leeds United, rather than being particularly excited at the prospect of moving to Merseyside.

There are still two weeks left of the transfer window and it is still impossible to tell where Gnonto will end up, so fans are going to have to twiddle their thumbs until the deadline has passed.
