Marcelino is set to quit Marseille, eight months after being contacted by Everton.
According to L’Equipe, the Spaniard is set to leave the French club after only seven games in charge.
Marcelino has managed the likes of Sevilla, Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao during his 24-year managerial career, winning the Supercopa de Espana, the Copa del Rey and the Segunda Division.

The 58-year-old decided to step down from Bilbao in May 2022 and was without a job for almost a year before Everton contacted him back in January.
Marca previously reported that the Toffees were eager to replace Frank Lampard with Marcelino, however the deal failed to materialise and Sean Dyche instead moved to Merseyside.
Marcelino remained unemployed until he was appointed Marseille boss only three months ago. The Ligue 1 outfit have since won twice and drawn three games and are preparing to face Ajax in the Europa League tomorrow.
Could Marcelino join Everton?
However, reports have claimed that the manager has already told Marseille that he has decided to leave the club, with Jean-Pierre Papin set to take charge for their trip to Amsterdam.

Marcelino’s exit could spark interest from Everton, who are clearly big fans of the former midfielder.
Dyche is coming under increasing pressure after failing to win any of their opening five matches and the Toffees could consider trying to bring Marcelino to the club once again,.
However, there is surely a reason as to why he is leaving Marseille and that could affect his decision to move to the Premier League. Tempting a manager who has spent most of his career at very big clubs fighting for European football to come join a struggling Everton side could also be tough.
