Brighton are in pole position to sign Everton target Tyler Adams.

The Daily Mail have reported that the Seagulls are leading the race to sign the midfielder, who is likely to leave Leeds United after they were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Adams was one of the Whites’ better players after he joined from RB Leipzig last summer, however his campaign was cut short by a hamstring injury and he was unable to help them stay in the top flight.

Despite his spell in the top flight only being brief, Adams attracted plenty of attention and was hailed as ‘outstanding’ by teammate Luke Ayling on Instagram.

The US international’s form could result in an immediate return to the Premier League and Everton are one club that are targeting a move.

The report claims that Brighton are weighing up a £25m bid for Adams, with Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest also keen on signing the American.

Brighton could offer Adams European football after they finished in sixth place last season, while he is likely to replace Moises Caicedo who has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Everton would need a miracle to sign Tyler Adams

The latest news that Tom Davies had turned down a new contract at Everton leaves the club even more desperate to add to their midfield this summer.

Amadou Onana’s rumoured exit could be the only way the Toffees could afford Tyler Adams’ £25m price tag, with the Belgian likely to leave for around £33m.

However, Everton may not be a very desirable destination given their form in recent seasons.

Adams already endured a tricky relegation battle with Leeds United and it would be surprising to see him open to what could potentially be another scrap at the bottom.

He could instead play in Europe with either Brighton or Aston Villa, while Nottingham Forest are likely to have the financial advantage over Sean Dyche’s side.
