Championship outfit Reading want to sign Everton midfielder Mo Besic during the summer transfer window, as per the Telegraph.

Besic’s contract will expire in the summer and his seven-year spell at Goodison Park will come to an end.

The report claims that Reading tried to sign Besic in January but couldn’t get a deal over the line.

When he will be a free agent in the summer, they’ll try again to get their man.

Besic’s Everton career has been on the slide for a number of years now.

He’s one victim of churn in the dugout, bringing in different players to suit different managers.

At 28, he still has plenty of time to carve out a career in English football and he should be keen to make up for lost time.

Everton fans will likely want to see him do well elsewhere because it hasn’t worked out for him on Merseyside.

Besic was signed by Roberto Martinez in August 2014 but his Goodison spell has been hampered by almost constant injuries.

He’s a technically able, disciplined defensive midfielder who should have enough quality to shine in the Championship.

Reading will hope they’re a Premier League club by the summer.

They currently sit seventh in the second tier, two points behind Bournemouth in the final play-off spot having played a game more.
