Everton are preparing a ‘serious offer’ for Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadıoğlu.

That’s according to Milliyet, who have reported that the Toffees could bid around €20 million (£17.2m) for the defender.

Kadıoğlu is a permanent fixture in Fenerbahce’s team and has proven his versatility by playing in multiple positions – mainly on either side of the defence.

The 23-year-old helped the club to win the Turkish Cup last season and also bagged four goals and five assists in all competitions.

Kadıoğlu’s current deal doesn’t expire until 2026 and Fenerbahce are eager to retain him, however the report says they would consider selling if they were to receive a convincing proposal.

Newcastle United were previously hopeful of signing the Turkey international, though reports on Tyneside have gone quiet. Fulham are also said to be interested in signing Kadıoğlu, however it is unclear whether they are preparing a bid.

Ferdi Kadıoğlu would be the fourth full-back to arrive at Everton in four years

Everton seem to have struggled to quite match the level they achieved with Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines for so many years, having signed three full-backs over the last three seasons.

The Toffees snapped up Niels Nkounkou from Marseille in 2023, with the Frenchman making only two league appearances before sealing a permanent move to Saint-Etienne earlier this month.

Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson only joined the club last year but it now looks like Everton are hopeful of snapping up yet another full-back.

A potential £17m bid raises questions as to where the cash is coming from, but a versatile defender could be quite useful for Sean Dyche’s side.

However, I think fans would be happy to see that kind of money spend bolstering their attack given their lack of goals last season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ellis Simms and Neal Maupay managed only three goals in the top flight.
