Jarrad Branthwaite wants to sign a new contract with Everton.
That’s according to the Mail Online, who have reported that the defender will put pen to paper on a new deal, despite increasing interest.
Branthwaite cost Everton only £1 million from Carlisle United three years ago and has spent a majority of his career on Merseyside struggling to force his way into the first team.
The 21-year-old had made 10 appearances in the Premier League prior to breakthrough this season, but had really caught the eye with a brilliant loan spell at PSV.
His brief stint at Blackburn Rovers was less noticeable, but Branthwaite went onto make 36 appearances and score four goals for the Eredivisie outfit and was immediately wanted by the club on a permanent deal.

PSV weren’t the only side that wanted to snap him up in the summer though, with Manchester United also interested in taking the centre-back to Old Trafford before he became a regular with the Toffees.
Branthwaite has now started Everton’s last five games in the top flight and has been one of the best performing players, leading PSV and the Red Devils to continue their interest in his signature, while they have been joined by Manchester City.
Everton were reportedly eager to tie down Branthwaite to a new long-term deal in a bid to keep him at Goodison Park and it now looks like they could be about to get their wish.
Branthwaite’s current contract doesn’t expire until 2025 and also has the option of a third, however the England U-21 international is prepared to agree to the fresh terms offered in line with his promising form.
Branthwaite could still leave
The Toffees will still be very vulnerable in the January transfer window if someone like Man City is to come in for Branthwaite, but a new contract and a happy player will give them some hope of keeping him at the club.

It is definitely not uncommon for players to commit to new deals and then leave shortly after, but it does often mean their club are in the driving seat and can often increase their demands for the player’s exit.
Everton will be keen to keep hold of Branthwaite, but they could make a hefty profit from him if he does choose to join a European giant.
Replacing him might be the tougher task, while it definitely wouldn’t be worth the cash if his departure led to relegation.
