Everton are now considering a move to sign Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier.

According to Bild, the Toffees are really impressed with the striker’s form and could be prepared to meet his release clause.

Beier joined Hoffenheim’s academy in 2018 before joining Hannover 96 on a two-year loan in 2021. After claiming 15 goals and four assists for the German outfit, Beier returned to his parent club and has earned himself a place in the starting line-up.

Beier has already netted four goals in only five appearances in the Bundesliga, with all four coming in consecutive games over the past month.

The 20-year-old has already attracted interest Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann following his brilliant start to the term, with the forward in line to earn his first international call-up next month.

Germany have struggled to find an out-and-out striker since the days of Mario Gomez and Miroslav Klose, while Thomas Muller is getting close to the end of his international career.

Success with the international team could see Beier’s stock rise dramatically, though Everton currently have the option of meeting his €20 million release clause (£17.3m) to lure him to the Premier League.

However, Hoffenheim are eager to fend off interest from the Toffees and are preparing to offer the German a long-term contract.

Beier could still well leave Hoffenheim next summer, however Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side will be eager to scrap the £17.3m release clause so they can make a hefty fee off his potential exit.

Could Everton sign another striker?

Everton and Brentford could be up against the clock to snap him up in a bargain transfer before he puts pen to paper on a new deal, though it is unclear whether they will commit to making an approach in January.

Sean Dyche’s side have already welcomed Beto and Youssef Chermiti to Goodison Park, though they will probably want to see how the former performs this season before committing to signing another No.9.

Dominic Calvert Lewin‘s performances over the past week have also made Everton’s previous attacking issues less of a problem, though they are still highly dependant on him staying fit.
