Everton have expressed an interest in Christopher Bonsu Baah, despite the forward only joining Genk on Thursday.

Het Laatse Nieuws have reported that the Toffees ‘inform’ themselves on the 18-year-old as he completes a move from Norwegian club Sarpsborg to Belgium.

Bornsu Baah only moved to Europe from Ghanaian second division side Accra Shooting Stars in March after previously trialling with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and Manchester United.

The teenager made 12 appearances for Sarpsborg, with his impressive performances earning him a place on the 2023 Golden Boy long list among stars such as Jamal Musiala, Jude Bellingham and Alejandro Garnacho.

De Morgen have reported that Brighton & Hove Albion tried to hijack Bonsu Baah’s move to Genk and were ready to offer close to double of the Belgian club’s proposal, however he has since signed a five-year deal that will see Sarpsborg earn up to €7 million (£5.9m).

While Everton are continuing to monitor the youngster, it is very unlikely they will make a move for him this summer given his current circumstances.

However, it could be one name to keep an eye on if the Toffees keep tracking his progress in Belgium next season.

Everton are clever to track Christopher Bonsu Baah at Genk

With Genk set to pay up to £7 million for Christopher Bonsu Baah, it seems likely that he will be given a chance in their first team rather than the academy.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that the Belgian giants are known for developing some exceptional youngsters into world class players.

Genk have previously produced the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtois and Leandro Trossard and have an impressive track record at selling on very promising stars across Europe.

Bonsu Baah is already very highly regarded and Everton will cause no harm in tracking the young forward at one of the best clubs to do so.
