Everton have reignited their interest in Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who have reported that the Toffees will go back in for the winger after he almost joined them during the January transfer window.

Danjuma was formerly a fan favourite at AFC Bournemouth as he was named their Player of the Year during the 2020-21 season before moving to Spain.

The Dutchman enjoyed similar success with Villarreal but was set to return to the Premier League in January after passing a medical ahead of a loan move to Goodison Park.

However, Everton’s decision to sack Frank Lampard resulted in Danjuma deciding to join Tottenham Hotspur instead.

The 26-year-old scored one goal in nine appearances for Spurs in a rather underwhelming stint in London, however he could now be back in the top flight for a third time.

The report claims that Everton and Villarreal have no bad blood after the move collapsed earlier this year and could now re-open talks with the attacker’s representatives over a summer loan deal.

Everton also face competition from Crystal Palace, who are said to be targeting Danjuma as well as the Toffees winger, Demarai Gray.

Arnaut Danjuma could be an exciting addition for Everton

Everton have clearly been tracking Arnaut Danjuma for a while and it would be great for everyone to see him finally arrive at Goodison Park this summer.

The chance to see him in the blue shirt for the whole season would also be an advantage and he could be an improvement if Demarai Gray was to leave the club.

Danjuma was a key player during his time with the Cherries, with Jonathan Woodgate full of praise for his star as they won promotion to the Premier League.

Speaking on the Official EFL podcast in April, he said: “Yeah, he’s an exceptional player, in a really good place at the minute, Arnie.

“I know last season that he didn’t really get a run in the Premier League and he maybe found it a bit difficult to get game time, but this season he’s been outstanding.”

Danjuma’s record in the Premier League isn’t quite as his spells elsewhere, however his 16 goals across La Liga and the Champions League make for great reading.

The Nigerian-born winger will be eager to prove himself in the top flight and could prove to be a huge attacking threat for Sean Dyche’s side.
