Everton will reportedly look to re-sign Joel Robles after Leeds United confirmed he will leave Elland Road. That is according to Phil Hay.

The goalkeeper joined the Whites from Real Betis last summer but is set to become a free agent when his contract expires next month.

Robles spent five years at Goodison Park prior to his return to Spain, leaving the club following Jordan Pickford’s arrival that saw him slip down the pecking order.

The 32-year-old was a regular for Real Betis but failed to impress for the Whites, making only five appearances during a disastrous campaign that ended in relegation.

Robles was one of four players Leeds confirmed to be leaving upon his contract expiry ahead of next season, as well as former Everton midfielder Adam Forshaw. The 31-year-old spent 12 years with his boyhood club before joining Brentford in 2012.

Despite Robles’ lack of game time, The Athletic’s Hay has reported that the Toffees are interested in bringing him back to Merseyside on a free transfer.

Robles would likely replace Asmir Begovic, who Everton confirmed recently rejected a new deal to stay beyond his contract expiry.

Joel Robles is a safe but uninspiring addition for Everton

Robles’ potential arrival isn’t one that will have Everton fans talking, given his underwhelming first stint on Merseyside.

However, Begovic’s impending departure leaves the Toffees light between the sticks and the Spaniard’s return could make sense financially.

Robles is unlikely to feature much under Dyche but will provide them with plenty of experience and is a veteran that already knows the club well.

Everton fans will be more focused on the position of their number one, with The Sun reporting that Manchester United are ready to move for the England international.

Pickford was one of their most important players in a very poor campaign and Robles certainly wouldn’t be able to lace his boots if he was to return to the club.
