Everton have joined the race to sign Lyon’s Romain Faivre.

The Toffees are considering a summer move for the midfielder who is available for €15 million (£12.8m), according to Foot Mercato.

Favre spent the second half of last season on loan with FC Lorient and claimed five goals and three assists in only 16 matches.

The 24-year-old’s form in France has seen him attract interest from the Premier League, with Everton joining Crystal Palace and Fulham in pursuing the forward.

Lyon are eager to raise some funds this summer and could be open to a sale, while the report claims that Lorient are also keen to make his stay permanent.

With three years left on his current contract, €15m could prove to be a bargain for Faivre and will be an affordable option for most Premier League sides.

However, Everton’s financial issues may force them to fall behind in the race for his signature.

Romain Faivre could be the ideal midfielder for Everton

Romain Faivre was highly thought of prior to his move to the French club and was handed his senior debut at Monaco by Thierry Henry, who had plenty of love for the youngster.

Speaking to SoFoot in 2021, Henry said: “These [Faivre] are players I helped to develop as best I could and I’m happy for that. Romain Faivre has something few players have – he breaks lines.”

Having previously been linked with the likes of Manchester United and PSG, the midfielder clearly has plenty of talent and could be a huge signing for whichever club succeeds.

His goal record for Lorient was also very impressive and could be exactly what Everton need for a squad that has been so poor going forward.

While the Toffees have a limited budget, £12.8m doesn’t seem like much for the potential Faivre has shown.
