Tom Davies is close to joining Sheffield United.
That’s according to Alan Nixon, who told his Patreon that the Blades have turned their attention to the midfielder after failing to land Lewis O’Brien.
The newly promoted club were eager to bring O’Brien in on loan following his loan spell in the MLS, however Nottingham Forest didn’t want to strengthen a rival and also wanted to recoup the money they paid for him last summer.

Sheffield United have been in disussions with Davies for weeks following his departure from Everton. The 25-year-old was offered a new contract at Goodison Park but decided to leave his boyhood club after struggling for minutes last season.
Davies has since been searching for a fresh start and had previously been linked with the likes of Rangers and AS Monza, however he now looks to be returning to the Premier League as he closes in an agreement with the Blades.
Will Tom Davies be a success at Sheffield United?
Tom Davies looked to be the real deal when he burst onto the scene for Everton during the 2016-17 season, where he was awarded the Toffees’ Young Player of Year, Goal of the Season and Performance of the Season.
The ‘fantastic’ midfielder became Everton’s youngest ever captain in August 2018, before he was named in the 20-man shortlist for the Golden Boy award.

However, things quickly spiralled for Davies and he failed to become a favourite under any of the managers that followed. The Everton academy graduate failed to build on his potential and never even earned himself an international cap, as expected.
This summer was certainly the correct time for the 25-year-old to leave Merseyside and many fans were surprised when he was even offered a new contract.
Davies could look to rediscover his form with Sheffield United, but it would be a shock to see him reach the heights that he once looked capable of.
