There are a number of Everton players considering their future at Goodison Park after Carlo Ancelotti’s departure, as per the Athletic.

They report that most of the senior members of the squad are ‘gutted’ about Ancelotti’s decision.

And that the lack of social media well-wishes for the departing Italian is perhaps indicative of their feelings.

James Rodriguez and Richarlison are named as two players who may well be looking at their situation now.

In the case of Rodriguez, that’s not much of a surprise.

Ancelotti was quite clearly the driving force behind his arrival at Goodison Park, having worked with him twice before.

It would be a surprise if James wasn’t looking elsewhere now that Ancelotti has left.

Richarlison was reportedly convinced by Ancelotti to hold on for another season – last summer.

With Ancelotti gone and Everton not in European football again next season, it is suggested that Richarlison will again consider his options.

Everton are not rushing to make an appointment in the dugout, instead undertaking a thorough recruitment process.

Will that impact the decisions of the players? Will they wait to see who the new man is before deciding what to do?

Time will tell, but it’s clear Ancelotti’s shock departure has had a major impact on the squad.
