Everton have moved clear of the relegation zone after the Premier League handed back four points following the Toffees’ successful appeal.

Nevertheless, Sean Dyche’s side are still embroiled in a battle to avoid the drop, having not recorded a victory since the turn of the year.

With survival far from secure at present, Evertonians could be concerned about the futures of some of their star players.

Jarrad Branthwaite has arguably been the Toffees’ best player this season; his performances have seen him linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Jordan Pickford has also impressed in a defence that has kept the second-most clean sheets in the top flight thus far.

And now, a report has emerged revealing further details on the duo’s Goodison Park futures.

Everton relegation clause stance revealed

According to the Daily Mail, the club have already moved to protect themselves against the financial consequences of relegation.

“Everton have moved to protect themselves against some of the financial consequences of relegation by inserting mandatory wage cuts into recently negotiated player contracts and denying release clauses to their most sought-after stars,” they wrote.

It’s believed Branthwaite and Pickford do not have release clauses, which will enable Everotn to auction them off to the highest bidder if they are relegated.

The majority of players who remain will be forced to take pay cuts. It’s understood Pickford does not have a mandatory wage-cut clause in the deal he signed last year.

Sean Dyche must find attacking formula

As previously mentioned, Everton’s defensive numbers rank among the Premier League’s best; James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford are primarily to thank.

However, towards the top end of the pitch is where the problems lie. Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goalscoring form is a concern, and Beto has failed to hit the heights expected of him.

Despite Everton pulling away from the bottom three without playing a game, a tense end of the season is in store if the Toffees remain toothless at the top end of the pitch.
