Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Wilfried Gnonto.

That’s according to London World, who have reported that Everton could face competition from Spurs as they look to bolster their attack following Harry Kane’s exit.

The Toffees have been monitoring Gnonto all summer following Leeds United’s relegation, though he was initially expected to remain at Elland Road.

However, Everton were handed a boost when it was reported that Gnonto had refused to play for the Whites and was eager to force through a move to Goodison Park.

The latest claims were that the Championship club weren’t willing to sell the ‘unusual’ attacker, but could instead loan him out. Jack Harrison has since done exactly that, while the Italian remains in Yorkshire.

While Sean Dyche’s side remain frontrunners to sign Gnonto permanently, Spurs are now in the race for his signature and could make a bid for him in the coming days.

The London outfit are looking to bring in some new forwards with the £100 million sum that they raked in from Kane’s move to Bayern Munich, though the 19-year-old certainly won’t be the one to replace Kane up front.

Everton could lose out on Wilfried Gnonto to Tottenham Hotspur – Deja vu

While Everton are reportedly still leading the race for Wilfried Gnonto, it seems very likely that he would choose to join Tottenham if given the chance.

While Spurs didn’t achieve European football, Gnonto could jump at the opportunity to play at a ‘Big Six’ club and could arguably perform on a much bigger stage in years to come – while London is always very tempting.

Everton will have to wrap up a deal for the teenager very quickly if they are to avoid losing out to Tottenham, in what would be Deja vu from their failed pursuit of Arnaut Danjuma in January.
