Richarlison’s wonder strike shows unwanted Tottenham trait which didn’t ring true for him at Everton

Former Everton star Richarlison scored one of the goals of the season in the Premier League on Sunday after a 40-yard strike against Arsenal.

Catching out David Raya with incredible precision from just outside of the centre circle, Richarlison’s goal will live long in the memory in terms of North London Derby efforts. However, it counted for little as Eberechi Eze’s hat-trick and Leandro Trossard’s opener pushed Tottenham to a 4-1 loss at Arsenal.

Richarlison has not been as vital for Spurs as he was in terms of his importance for Everton overall, but he is on five goals for the campaign in the Premier League inside just 12 games this season.

Yet despite his wonder strike, it’s an unwanted trait from the Brazilian – with Tottenham fans noticing his goals largely count for nothing in comparison to his time at Goodison Park.

Tottenham fans notice Richarlison’s wonder goals largely count for nothing compared to Everton stint

Despite writing his name in North London Derby folklore, Tottenham fans took to Twitter to hint that Richarlison’s best goals count for nothing.

One fan wrote: “Richarlison always scores the most pointless goals bruh”, whilst another compared the Brazilian to his compatriot Ronaldo for scoring wonder goals when there is nothing on the line.

Another fan tweeted: “Peak Richarlison to score a worldie when it (probably) means nothing”, whilst another posted: “Richarlison is the funniest player ever omg”.

That wasn’t really the case for Richarlison during his time at Everton, before he moved to Tottenham.

In the 2021-22 season, his goals against Arsenal, Southampton, Leicester City, Chelsea and Crystal Palace were all extremely instrumental in securing wins for the Toffees to help them survive by the skin of their teeth.

Even in his debut campaign in 2018-19, Richarlison managed three goals in his opening two Premier League games to record vital early points for the club.

Richarlison only lost one top-flight game in which he scored for Everton that season, scoring against Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle and Leicester City to help the Toffees finish in eighth.

Everton have consistently been linked with a return for Richarlison

Everton are in need of a striker in the upcoming transfer windows, and due to his strong form and love for the club, Richarlison is always touted as an option.

Everton News previously stated that David Moyes is in the market for a new talisman, though the basis of a deal remains unknown.

Do you want to see Richarlison return to Everton?

BBC Sport reporter Giulia Bould believes that a loan move for Richarlison could be a good fit for the Toffees if Spurs were to administer a temporary switch for the Brazilian.

Richarlison has made his love for Everton clear, and he would come into the side as their obvious choice to lead the line if David Moyes wants to bring him back.

Thierno Barry and Beto simply haven’t come up with the goods so far this season and a move for the former fan favourite could be just the tonic for the Toffees to find themselves in the top half.
