This season has been one of true turmoil for Everton, who have had to overcome wave after wave of perilous punishments and off-pitch obstacles.
Whether it be the Premier League’s desperate attempts to continue hampering their progress, or a takeover that has taken over six months now to complete, it is a miracle that they remain afloat at all.
And yet, there is still seemingly more to come, with the Toffees having to plead a second case of the season to avoid further sanctions.
Should they survive this campaign, it will prove a truly sensational feat, because this unrelenting assault is getting tiresome now and will surely be taking its toll on the playing staff.
Gary Neville and Roy Keane react to Everton’s potential points deduction
Gary Neville, speaking to his former Manchester United teammate Roy Keane, questioned whether Everton might suffer at the hands of the Premier League once again.
After all, since their initial ten-point deduction, there has been a success in their appeal reducing it to six, before Nottingham Forest then escaped with just a four-point sanction.

Nobody really knows how they are coming to each conclusion, and unsurprisingly Keane has been left bored of it all.
‘Everton going to get another wack?’ Questioned Neville. His 52-year-old co-pundit replied: ‘It gets boring after a while doesn’t it? When you hear the legal side and what could happen. It’s not good for the league.’
The Premier League have treated Everton fans terribly
If Keane, an outsider to whom these sanctions have no impact, thinks the saga is boring, then imagine how Evertonians are feeling.
After all, despite Sean Dyche having made marked progress this campaign with a threadbare side lacking in confidence and quality, the tangible results are simply not there, because of a points deduction.
Admittedly, form of late has been poor, but still they have done more than enough to merit safety this season, yet remain embroiled in a relegation battle again.

Just when it feels like the Toffees might be set to attain some much-needed stability, the Premier League have emerged to drag them right back down.
And they could still do so again.
It is farcical the manner in which one of England’s oldest and most historical clubs have been treated this season, guilty or not. There are few crimes that could ever merit the punishments Everton continue to receive, and if they’re not careful it could result in their relegation after so many years of escaping such a fate.
