Ruben Amorim name drops Everton’s James Garner amid Man United links
Alan Stubbs thinks Garner has been excellent for Everton this season having played a versatile role under the 62-year-old manager.
The midfielder has also been deployed at both right and left-back, with his latest showing against Fulham coming at right-back.
Speaking to the Manchester United website, Amorim thinks Garner will return to his natural position on Monday, with Jake O’Brien expected to play at right-back.
“They can put [James] Garner as a right-back. But also [Jake] O’Brien, I think, is going to play, because of set-pieces,” said the United manager.
What is your prediction for Man United vs Everton?
“So, all these things, [it] is a more complete team, and David Moyes is doing an amazing job. It’s going to be really, really tough to win the game.”
Moyes has already mooted an extension clause in Garner’s contract, which would likely see the Blues prevent the midfielder from leaving on a free.
With United linked with interest in their former player, it is interesting to see that Amorim has noticed how Everton have been using Garner in a utility role this season.
Garner has become one of Everton’s most important players
Last season, some Everton fans were concerned about Garner’s performances, with some criticising the midfielder.
However, this season has seen Garner really step his game up considerably.
Tony Hibbert has been stunned by Garner’s upturn in form, which has seen him become such an important player for Moyes.
David Moyes has never won a Premier League game away at Old Trafford
The 24-year-old has played every single minute of Everton’s Premier League campaign this season.
And he will need to be at his absolute best on Monday evening, with his manager holding such a poor record away to their former club.
