Everton, under Sean Dyche’s unwavering leadership, have made incomparable strides forward as a football club.

The former Burnley boss was a breath of fresh air coming into Goodison Park, and exactly what these players needed. An ‘old-school’ coach with a no-nonsense approach, he took little time to whip an unfit group into shape.

And now, were it not for their ten-point deduction, the Toffees would be well clear of the relegation zone, striving towards the coveted European places rather than those floundering narrowly clear of the bottom three.

Given their circumstances, Dyche has had to be frustratingly silent throughout this appeal process, as they awaited an outcome.

With one supposedly right around the corner now, the 52-year-old has sought to detail what the club’s plans are moving forward…

What Sean Dyche said about Everton’s appeal

Writing in his programme notes for tonight’s all-important clash with Crystal Palace, the gaffer offered his verdict on everything from poor refereeing calls to their injury crisis.

But, his ideas for how to tackle an unpredictable outcome of this appeal process are arguably the most important, as he writes: ‘Instead, all of our focus, all of our energy has to be on ourselves and keeping the belief in what we are building here. 

‘That was always the message but it has been refocused since the Premier League commission’s decision to deduct us 10 points earlier in the season, a sanction we have appealed. Regardless of the outcome of that, we must remain steadfast in our self-belief.

‘The performance levels have been good so far but there are improvements to be made and they are achieved through hard work.’

Everton must move forward regardless of the outcome

Although it is hard to recover from such unprecedented setbacks, to finally have a manager with a plan is a refreshing change of pace from the usual unprepared tacticians they have been forced to endure in the past few years.

With great strides having been made under Kevin Thelwell and Dyche’s watch, the expectation is that a negative outcome would not deter them from the long-term goals they are seeking to achieve.

Everton are a unique club, and thus reviving them has proven a task that no one has managed yet.

But, by reconstructing it built on the old-school, hard-working principles of Dyche, they could be in with a real chance of achieving success once again.
