Sean Dyche could be sacked ‘within weeks’ after poor Everton start

Everton’s start to the season has been really underwhelming, having lost their opening two Premier League matches with a whimper.

First facing Brighton and Hove Albion at home, there was quiet optimism that a strong result could be earned on the opening day. They would lose 3-0 in a disastrous turn of events, spurred on by two huge mistakes from Ashley Young and Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Things would get no easier in their second match, a trip to Tottenham Hotspur, who continue to be buoyed by Ange Postecoglou’s unique brand of leadership.

Travelling with just 14 fit senior players, Sean Dyche’s hands were tied, and the 4-0 scoreline was ago be expected.

Now propping up the Premier League table, Everton fans are furious, and one journalist has even exclusively suggested that the future of the 53-year-old manager could seriously be under threat.

Sean Dyche could be sacked by Everton

Speaking to Everton.News, well-respected journalist Graeme Bailey told us all about Dyche, and what the future might hold for the former Burnley boss.

Naturally, with his contract set to expire next summer, already questions regarding his future have been prevalent, with Kevin Thelwell another who could leave for free alongside him this time next year.

The fanbase is split on this particular flashpoint, with some arguing that the club could do no better than Dyche, whilst others remain furious with his play style and game management.

Well, Bailey has sought to offer a more definitive answer, as he exclusively told us: ‘Dyche is a dead man walking. He really is. The performances at the club at the minute, it’s nothing to do with the new owners. I think there’s a chance Dyche could go before there’s new owners.

‘I think there’s a fair chance Dyche could be gone within weeks really.

‘The performance we saw last weekend [against Brighton]… the team selection.

‘He’s on thin ice. If he was still Everton’s manager I’d be staggered. I’d be absolutely staggered.’

Bailey also questioned why Jesper Lindstrom was absent from Everton’s starting lineup too, a claim that many fans share.

Who could Everton replace Sean Dyche with as manager?

The irony of the situation is, were Everton to sack Dyche, they would be left with few other options to bring in.

And, even more ironically, their lack of finances would almost definitely scupper so many facets of the deal.

It would cost a chunk of money to pay off his contract, then another lump sum to tempt in his replacement, and then there would be no further funds to hand to the new manager with which to mould the squad in his image.

What new manager would want to walk into that situation?

Graham Potter is a name that continuously crops up, but his intelligent and incisive brand of football would take ridiculously long to embed given the direct philosophy employed in recent years.

It feels like Everton, whether they like it or not, are stuck with Dyche. And realistically, for their current plight, he is by far the best they could hope for.
