Sean Dyche has dropped a fitness update on four Everton players ahead of Thursday’s FA Cup tie against Crystal Palace.

Everton get a break from Premier League action this week as they begin 2024’s FA Cup challenge.

It represents a chance for a cup run for Everton after being knocked out of the Carabao Cup at a quarter-final stage by Fulham on penalties.

Getting that close though will have given Sean Dyche and his Toffees side confidence for a successful FA Cup run this season.

Ahead of the clash against Crystal Palace, Dyche has been discussing the fitness status of several players in his side.

Dyche was speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference and the Everton official X account has conveyed the quotes.

On Abdoulaye Doucoure, who has been missing lately with a hamstring injury, Dyche said: “I mean, look these are the decisions that will be made there people who are touch and go and then do you play them [or] do you not, as you can imagine. We hope to have a couple back in with the idea of playing or certainly in the squad. Just about but it would be a touch-and-go scenario.”

On Idrissa Gueye and if he will go to AFCON despite being out currently for the Toffees, he said: “He probably will, he’s still here at the moment receiving treatment. But if that treatment comes to an end, which it probably will do, maybe over the weekend, early next week, and then of course, their power is to call him up.”

He also provided an update on Ashley Young and Dele Alli: “Yeah, Dele’s still, you know, he’s been assessed. It’s a, you know, he’s got an injury that still needs time, it did do anyway. We’ve been trying to take the heat away from that to allow him time but of course, it’s fair everyone asks the question.

“Youngy, he was out in the grass today but on the medical side, so he’s still got a bit to go but it’s good to see him back out on the grass.”

How many times have Everton won the FA Cup?

In Everton’s entire history, they are among England’s most successful clubs with various triumphs although not in recent memory.

The Toffees are five-time FA Cup champions, with the most recent and famous triumph coming in 1995 in a 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Everton won the famous domestic trophy in the following years; 1905, 1933, 1966, 1984, 1995.
