Jake O’Brien has had a frustrating start to life at Everton, and Sean Dyche has now provided an update on his situation the club moving forward.
Everton have the likes of Michael Keane, Jake O’Brien, James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite at Sean Dyche‘s disposal at this moment in time.
The Everton boss has opted to go with Keane and Tarkowski for most games, with Branthwaite only featuring once this season due to injury.
Jake O’Brien has been the odd one out for Everton this season, having played just 26 minutes through the decision-making of Dyche himself.
Interestingly, Dyche did state at the start of the season that Keane’s good form was the reason O’Brien did not feature, but he had no excuse after the former’s disappointing displays.
Now, Dyche has finally broken the silence on Jake O’Brien in his press conference ahead of Ipswich.

Sean Dyche provides an update on Jake O’Brien’s situation at Everton
James Tarkowski has already tipped O’Brien for big things at Everton, so he’s clearly having an influence on his teammates behind the scenes.
But, for some reason Dyche just doesn’t seem to trust him yet.
Well, Everton fans won’t have to wait for answers anymore as Everton’s pre-Ipswich press conference offered an update on the situation.
Speaking via Liverpool Echo, Dyche had this to say.
“His time will come.”
He also stressed that the learning curve is about more than the physical side of the game but also learning the challenges of playing in the Premier League and playing for a club as big a club as Everton.
Jake O’Brien deserves a chance
Of course, it’s all good not trusting O’Brien if there’s a reason to, but simply stating that he needs to learn about the Premier League and playing for Everton is nonsense.
It’s difficult for a player to learn about the Premier League when he’s only been given 26 minutes.
He was a regular starter over in Ligue 1 at Lyon last season, which is a decent standard and he excelled there, which is something that Orel Mangala couldn’t do.
It appears as if Dyche’s love for Michael Keane has grown too strong and he’s settled on Tarkowski and Branthwaite as his other two.
