Sean Dyche was wowed by what one of his players did during the Toffees’ crucial 1-0 win over Burnley on Saturday.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fortuitous first-half goal gave Everton a vital three points and their first Premier League win of 2024.
It’s as you were in the battle to avoid relegation after Luton Town produced a turnaround victory against Bournemouth to keep pace with Sean Dyche’s men.
Despite the gap to the relegation zone remaining the same, the Everton boss was in a buoyant mood post-match.
Sean Dyche lauds ‘brilliant’ Everton ace after what he did against Burnley

After questions were raised in midweek, the victory certainly eases the pressure on the Everton boss.
Dyche highlighted Abdoulaye Doucoure’s involvement against the Clarets, with the £20million signing currently observing Ramadan, restricting the periods in which he can consume food and drink.
“We are missing players today,” he told BBC Sport.
“We’ve got people at the end of Ramadan. Doucs has done brilliant today coming in with the food and water situation. We respect it, of course. Andre [Gomes] has done ever so well to get through the game today.”
Much needed goal for Dominic Calvert-Lewin
All involved with Everton will be letting out a significant sigh of relief after the Toffees’ win on Saturday. It was far from vintage, but how the points came was the last thing on Dyche’s mind.
Now that the burden has been lifted somewhat, there will be an expectation for Everton to kick on and consolidate their position between now and the end of the season.
Calvert-Lewin’s goal is another positive. It was perhaps lucky – as highlighted by Michael Dawson – but precisely what the striker needed to regain form.
Up next for the Toffees is a tough-looking trip to Chelsea, who have improved of late. Another three points would go an extremely long way to securing the club’s Premier League status for next season.
