Sean Dyche wants to bring Andre Gomes back into the Everton squad.

According to the Daily Mail, the Toffees boss will look to reintegrate the midfielder back into his team after he failed to earn a move away this summer.

Gomes joined Everton from Barcelona on a permanent deal back in 2019 and has since had a stop-start career in the Premier League.

The former Portugal international has 100 Everton appearances to his name, but his spell on Merseyside has been interrupted by a serious injury, poor form and falling down the pecking order under various managers.

Gomes scored three goals and bagged two assists in 26 matches as he spent last season on loan with Lille, with the French club eager to bring him back permanently if it wasn’t for his wages.

The ‘excellent’ 30-year-old was desperate to leave Everton beyond September 1, with Fenerbahce one club that were reportedly eager to sign him before their deadline yesterday.

However, Gomes still remains on Merseyside and Dyche is now eager to make use of him and bring him back into the squad.

Should Andre Gomes return to the Everton squad?

The midfielder is thought to be the Toffees’ highest earner, raking in around £112,000-a-week. Everton are now forced to continue paying his wages until at least January, so Dyche knows he can’t afford to waste him in the reserves.

The Premier League club are also still without any decent squad depth after a lacklustre transfer window and failed to replace Alex Iwobi following his move to Fulham.

Gomes will offer Everton another option in the middle and the two parties will have to mend their relationship if they are to make it work for at least the next three or four months.
