Everton put in yet another lackluster display against Southampton this time round, and Sean Dyche made an admission on Jesper Lindstrom before the game that will infuriate fans.

Sean Dyche has improved things when you look at the first four games of the season, but the last two performances have been extremely disappointing.

Everton fans are desperate to see their side play an attacking style of football, but it appeared as if Dyche set his side up to sit back and allow the Saints to have the ball.

The Toffees did have their chances on the counter-attack but were wasteful in possession, with Dwight McNeil squandering one of many chances as he failed to slide Idrissa Gana Gueye in.

Interestingly, before the game, Sean Dyche admitted that Jesper Lindstrom wasn’t fully fit, but he decided to start him regardless.

Sean Dyche had a decision to make prior to the game with Dwight McNeil a 50/50 call to make the Southampton clash.

He decided to start the Everton star, and he didn’t look at his best, struggling to really create things.

However, it was Lindstrom who wasn’t fully fit, as Dyche admitted he’s getting near to full fitness.

This came in an update given by Everton’s X account, which involved a blow involving Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Everton have had a whole host of injuries throughout this season, with Jarrad Branthwaite, Armando Broja, James Garner, James Tarkowski, Youssef Chermiti, Tim Iroegbunam, Dwight McNeil and more injured at some point, so to play another player who’s not 100% fit seems stupid.

Jack Harrison was sitting there on the bench. Although he put in a disappointing performance last time out, surely it’s better to preserve one of your players and risk no further issues.

Lindstrom had his bright moments in the game, but overall he looked a player lacking a bit of match fitness at times.

If Dyche continues to take risks with his players then it’s going to be a never-ending injury cycle for the Toffees.
