Everton’s summer transfer window has been one dominated by incomings, whether it be confirmed signings or rumoured targets.
Despite Kevin Thelwell warning fans not to expect much, his bluff has certainly been exposed now mid-way through July, as Everton’s interest in Wilfried Gnonto comes after the Toffees have already added three new faces to Sean Dyche’s squad.
Iliman Ndiaye promises to be the most exciting new addition, whilst the unknown that came with young Tim Iroegbunam adds further excitement regarding what the future holds for him.
Meanwhile, Jack Harrison will hopefully look to give more of the same, after a solid loan spell last season.
And yet, despite all this movement, there is actually a player already at Goodison Park who could be Dyche’s true secret weapon this season…
Sean Dyche could unleash secret Everton weapon this season
Already we have seen plenty of movement this summer on Merseyside, as Thelwell seeks to trim the fat from the squad whilst bolstering in key areas.
His intelligence throughout this process has become abundantly clear, as he moves Everton towards a position of newfound sustainability at last.
That job has been made so difficult due to the mistakes that came before him, and the ease with which he let Andre Gomes leave for free emphasises his enthusiasm to move on.
And yet, he still is not giving up on Dele Alli, with reports having surfaced last week suggesting that the 28-year-old will continue to train with the club despite his contract also expiring this summer.

In fact, progress has even been made over negotiating a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur, which could see him stay at Goodison Park to try and kickstart his career once again.
Dele Alli will hopefully make his career comeback this season
Given the struggles Dele has faced throughout his life, especially in the last few years, it might be easy to forget just how good he was during his peak in north London.
After all, the manner in which this teenage sensation burst onto the scene after joining from MK Dons was unprecedented, and had England fans believing that he would be the next elite-level talent to dominate the sport for a decade.
And whilst he did impress, coming so close to Premier League and Champions League glory, his side could not get over the line, and his decline coincided with the brave revelation he gave to Gary Neville in 2023.
But, from 2015 to 2018, Dele scored 37 and assisted a further 26 in the league alone, crashing the box unlike anything the division had seen in years.

If Dyche can coax that kind of dynamic goalscoring talent out of him again, and get him back to full fitness as he has done with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, this season could mark the comeback of this supremely gifted technician, unleashing this secret weapon on the Premier League once again.
