Sean Dyche outlines what ‘frustrated’ him most from Everton’s loss to Manchester United

Everton are a perennially frustrating club to watch, support and report on.

They never make life easy for themselves or others, and as such continue to whimper to defeat after defeat despite very often being the better side in games.

Sean Dyche, as the leader of this team, must be the most frustrated of us all, given he continually sets the side up with the best chance of winning, watches them forge the chances, but never score.

Well, that annoyance bubbled over yesterday.

What frustrated Sean Dyche about Everton’s performance

Speaking to Everton’s official website, Dyche pulled no punches in his post-match assessment: ‘[It’s] broken-record time. I can’t tell you how frustrated I am. I’m trying to speak calmly about the situation, which is incredibly frustrating, after coming to Old Trafford and delivering a performance like that and yet we don’t win.

‘The players are doing a lot right and these stats, usually, bring more than we got today, but I’m never naive enough to ignore what is most important thing and the bit we have to get right, which is the scoreline.

‘I have to keep saying it as it is because I’m telling the truth. The Evertonians here today saw it. Everyone saw it. It’s very difficult when I’m watching the team with so much quality, getting in those areas, and not taking their chances.’

Sean Dyche has to change something soon

All season Dyche has told fans to be patient, and that their form would turn eventually as they were doing the right things.

And admittedly, earlier in the season that was clear to see.

Their expected goals were always high, and their defence remained largely solid. It seemed like a recipe to ensure safety with ease, but now it’s not so certain.

Because, despite that trend persisting, the results have not turned as promised.

So, Dyche finds himself in a tricky spot, likely unsure whether to stick with a system that is threatening to work but is yet to turn things around, or completely uproot the team.

Either way, something has to change soon, as their recent Premier League form has them nosediving towards certain relegation this season.
