There is simply no rest for the wicked, and in the footballing world, this has never been more true. Everton, fresh from back-to-back wins against West Ham United and Burnley, has already turned their sights toward Saturday’s clash.
As such, Sean Dyche was wheeled out earlier today to speak to the press, with questions surrounding last night’s triumph and this weekend’s impending battle with Brighton and Hove Albion.
While topics ranged from the quality of their opposition to those who are still far from a return and the positions he demands relentless work from, arguably the most interesting claims came regarding 777 Partners’ impending takeover.
With Josh Wander having attended a few games now, it seems his interest in striking a deal with Farhad Moshiri is concrete, with the Miami-based firm now awaiting the go-ahead from the Premier League.
However, despite such a lucrative company set to invest in the club, Dyche remains expectant that little will change regarding his January transfer plans.
He told reporters: “We’ll see [if financially things will be different]. At the moment, I don’t think there’s been a massive amount of finance there – that’s been obvious – and I think we’ve done well by making finance come into the club. It might be much the same; we’ll wait and see.”
What new players have Everton signed?
Despite their financial constraints and the 12-point deduction they could be set to face because of their mismanagement over the years, there has still been some leeway that has allowed for incoming transfers.
As such, the summer marked a tough but richly rewarding one, as Dyche and Thelwell combined to reinvest funds gained from the high-profile sales of Richarlison and Anthony Gordon.
The biggest acquisition came late in the window, as he paid £30m to bring in Beto from Udinese. Such a fee has already been justified not just from his admirable performances but also his mere presence, which has allowed Dominic Calvert-Lewin to get up to speed.
However, that marked the outstanding addition of the summer, with loan deals for Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma being shrewd moves, alongside the free transfer of Ashley Young.
It is unlikely that vast funds will become available between now and January, but the takeover could offer a short-term boost should it be pushed through in time.
