Everton’s Bramley-Moore Dock stadium is a point of great excitement for this fanbase, which has not really been treated to much joy in recent years.
The latest Premier League campaign was the furthest from the relegation zone that they had finished in some time, yet with two deductions, it was not one littered with relief.
Instead, the prospect of the drop loomed large, namely because their own division were seemingly plotting their downfall.
Regardless, they stayed up, and have made great strides already this summer to ensure that it will be their final year of fearing relegation.
Retaining their top-flight status is key for so many reasons, but the outstanding one is ensuring that their new home plays host to the best possible level of football.
Manchester United outline Bramley-Moore Dock plan
After all, it is expected to be the envy of the country, Tottenham Hotspur aside perhaps, given how it will be the newest, innovative arena to take English football by storm.
In fact, such is the excitement and intrigue it has built, Manchester United have outlined plans to take the site in already.
As per page 75 of the print edition of today’s The Mirror, they note: ‘Manchester United are sending top officials to check over Everton’s £800million stadium.
‘It’s understood the delegation will visit the Bramley-Moore Dock site in Liverpool early this week as they plan their vision for a new Old Trafford.
‘It’s unclear whether head of football operations and part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be part of the group visiting.
‘But senior officials will meet Blues counterparts and members of the construction team at the stadium, close to Liverpool city centre.
‘Billionaire Ratcliffe, founder of the INEOS group, is intent on creating a 90,000-seat ‘Wembley of the North’ at Old Trafford following ratification of his deal to buy 25 percent of the club earlier this year.’
Everton should be flattered by such interest
Given how the Red Devils have plans to build, as mentioned, ‘The Wembley of the North’, the fact that they are taking inspiration from Everton speaks volumes.
Even if they redevelop, or completely construct a new stadium, it will now surely always have ties to the Toffees’ construction, who did it first.
Everton have always been trailblazers within English football, and Goodison Park was actually the first stadium purpose-built for football in the country.
Desperate to further cement their legacy, the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium promises to create an atmosphere unlike any other, and hopefully will play host to the kind of football that can excite fans and neutralise their opposition.
For a club the size of Manchester United to be seeking to copy them, they are certainly doing something right.
