Italian side Salernitana are waiting for Everton to make Neal Maupay available for loan this summer.

La Cotta di Salerno have reported that the club are patiently waiting to sign the striker on loan after holding interest in his signature since January.

Maupay joined Everton for £15 million last season and he has since failed to make an impact, scoring only one goal in the Premier League.

Salernitana tried to sign Maupay during the January transfer window but failed, however the Frenchman’s agent since revealed that he is eager to complete a move to the Serie A.

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb in March, Federico Pastorello said: “We had a strong negotiation with Salernitana, then he went to Everton. There has been the technical change, we are at the end of the season and we will see what to do.

“He sees Serie A as a place to go, we will work to please him, there will probably be work for him to do in Italy.”

Everton are reportedly looking to offload Maupay as they look to build up some finances to bring in fresh faces, however Salernitana aren’t interested in signing the 26-year-old permanently.

The Italian outfit are said to be waiting for the Toffees to conduct their own business in the hope that they will be willing to part ways with Maupay temporarily.

Sending Neal Maupay out on loan to Salernitana isn’t much use for Everton

Neal Maupay looks dead set to leave Goodison Park this summer, however there doesn’t seem to be much of a fair argument for it to be on loan.

The only way it would make sense is if the Toffees were to include a buy clause in his contract, however that doesn’t help them this summer.

Sean Dyche’s side are looking to sell both Maupay and Ellis Simms to fund moves elsewhere and allowing the former to join Salernitana until the end of the season simply wouldn’t work.
