The Merseyside derby is finally here this weekend.
Everton and Liverpool will go head-to-head for bragging rights of the city, as well as earn three vital points that could have implications at both ends of the table.
As a two city club, there have been plenty of overlaps between the two teams over the years, whether that be players wearing the colours of Everton and Liverpool or friends in the workplace.
One other thing that has happened over the years is fans of the Toffees going on to play for Liverpool.
So, with that, here is a list of every boyhood Everton fan who has played for Liverpool.
Every Liverpool player who supported Everton growing up
Adam Lallana
Lallana revealed back in 2017 that he grew up as an Everton fan.
During a Q and A session, the former England international revealed that his dad was a Blues fan and Lallana followed in his footsteps before claiming he pledged his allegiance to the red half of Merseyside.
“I have a confession. It was Everton because my dad supported them. I’m a Red now though,” he said at the time.
Jamie Carragher
Jamie Carragher has confessed on many an occasion that he was an Everton fan growing up.
Carragher reportedly even has a tattoo dedicated to the Toffees and but has claimed to be more of a Liverpool fan nowadays.
Michael Owen
An easy one to understand as to why Michael Owen supports Everton as his father Terry was a forward for the Toffees.
He came through the academy ranks at Liverpool and his exceptional form earned him a move to Real Madrid, where he would win the Ballon d’Or.
Steve McManaman
Steve McManaman was a star for Liverpool in the 90s but growing up as a kid, he only ever had ambitions to play for the Blues.
During an interview, McManaman said: “When I was younger I was desperate to sign for Everton but they weren’t as forthcoming as Liverpool. For a young player, 15 years old, your chances were so much better at Liverpool.”
Steve McMahon
Despite being named number 42 in a list of Liverpool’s top 100 players of all time, Steve McMahon was never a Reds fan growing up.
McMahon did actually play for his boyhood club before going on to represent Liverpool at a later date but revealed that Everton legend Alan Ball was his hero growing up and that the Toffees’ 1985 FA Cup final win was his favourite childhood moment.
Robbie Fowler
Robbie Fowler, like most names in this list, has admitted to being an Everton fan as a kid before changing to support Liverpool aged 11.
He said: “When I was very young I used to watch Everton but I was at Liverpool when I was 11 years old – I’ve been a Liverpool fan from then on.”
Ian Rush
One of Liverpool’s greatest players of all time, Ian Rush is one of the surprise contenders on the list.
Rush was a part of a Liverpool team who dominated England and Europe but he would always cast an eye towards the Toffees.
