Everton’s takeover saga has dominated their entire season, and looks no closer to reaching a conclusion.

Especially given 777 Partners, who remained incensed that they would eventually get into power, seemingly have little chance of doing so now.

John Textor has emerged as the alternative, but with Alan Myers confirming other takeover parties interested in Everton, this could spiral into an all-out bidding war.

Farhad Moshiri will be licking his lips, and Simon Jordan has weighed in on this debacle.

Simon Jordan on Everton’s takeover saga

Speaking on talkSPORT just yesterday, the former Crystal Palace chairman would offer his verdict on the reports linking John Textor with an Everton takeover.

And whilst he offered a glowing recommendation for the American who now co-owns the club he used to be involved with, he did admit that the Toffees remain a far more attractive proposition despite their recent struggles.

In fact, were it not for the failures of Moshiri, Jordan was positive in his assessment of the club.

He claimed: ‘What I can tell you, in the financial community that surrounds the football world, people think there’s going to be someone who nicks Everton. I.e. They’re going to get Everton cheap.

‘Because if Everton were run properly, or had been run properly, they’d be a top eight football club in the Premier League knocking on the door of Europe with a new stadium coming down the pike, everyone would be going this is a £600m-£700m football club.

‘As it is at this moment in time, it’s a car crash, because of the bad management and, with all due respect to the board that was there, with my dear friend Bill Kenwright who was also involved in some of the decisions that weren’t great.

‘But the main culprit, undoubtedly to me, is the man with the money Moshiri.’

Everton remain an attractive takeover proposition

Even if relegation battles have become the norm at Everton, and financial constraints are relentlessly plaguing the club, the Toffees remain a desirable prospect for someone seeking to wake up a sleeping giant.

Especially if someone with big money is willing to come in and spend it to fix these issues, with the latter something that could be eased with a swift influx of cash.

Naturally, due to PSR, they are expected to be hamstrung in the market for a few years to come.

However, with the shrewd work that Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche have done already, at the very least a present and rich backer would allow them to have a stronger stance on selling their prized assets.

With just a few tweaks, there is every chance that the Toffees could soar up the table in the same way the Newcastle United and Aston Villa have done in the last two years.

The potential is there, and to get it right on Merseyside would be historic given the size and stature of this famous footballing institution.
