Simon Jordan has revealed some very strong opinions on Frank Lampard following his links to the vacant Rangers job.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the pundit criticised Lampard and suggested that he only gets interest from top clubs due to his success as a player.
The 45-year-old began his managerial career with Derby County, where he brought in the likes of Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount and Harry Wilson. Lampard guided the Rams to the Championship play-offs but failed to win promotion before he took a huge leap up to take the reins at Chelsea.
Lampard led the Blues to a fourth-place finish and an FA Cup final defeat but was sacked the following season with the club ninth in the Premier League table.
The former midfielder seemed like an interesting acquisition for Everton, who brought him in to replace Rafael Benitez in January 2022. Lampard kept the Toffees up by the skin of their teeth with only one game to go before he was sacked almost a year after his arrival.
Lampard’s second stint at Chelsea was even worse, producing the club’s first bottom-half finish since 1996 as he took charge as caretaker manager.

Despite the former England international’s struggles in recent years, he has now been linked with the Rangers vacancy.
Jordan has been hugely critical of the Scottish side’s interest in Lampard and has suggested he should have done a lot better at both Everton and Chelsea.
When asked how Lampard should have done at Goodison Park, Jordan said: “Better! If they didn’t bring Sean Dyche in in January, Frank would have got them relegated.
“The only reason you put Frank Lampard in the conversation is because of Frank Lampard the player.
“Lampard needs to go away and regroup and become a football manager rather than have the illusion that because Frank is educated, doesn’t offend anyone, balanced and has a legacy of being wonderful player, that that somehow translates in the dugout.”
Is Frank Lampard a bad manager?
Simon Jordan is maybe a bit harsh on Frank Lampard because he has always been put in a very difficult situation at each of his clubs.
He arguably overachieved is first campaign at Stamford Bridge and it is clearly very difficult for anyone to do a good job at Everton in their current state. His second spell at Chelsea was an absolute disaster, but did anyone really expect him to turn things around in the penultimate month of the campaign?

Lampard clearly isn’t ready to manage at the top level and that seemed pretty obvious when he left Derby County, while Rangers would definitely be making a mistake if they were to replace a Championship-level coach (Michael Beale) with another.
The former Everton boss needs to take a longer break before take a step down to the second tier and look for success like he was on track to achieve at Pride Park.
