Everton fans want new signings, but one journalist from Sky Sports has said he’d been ‘surprised’ if one reported target came to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this month.

There are 19 days remaining in the transfer window, and fans are hoping to see some productivity now.

The narrative has been that Everton will take a cautious approach to the window, but strike if the right opportunities present themselves.

Thoughts on potentially signing Ben White? 🤔

Arsenal right-back Ben White.

January can be a difficult window, so it seems Everton don’t want to over-promise and under-deliver.

But fans are really keen for new faces, because the club are still in a good position ahead of the second half of the season, with European football still a possibility.

Many feel a new right-back is paramount for Everton, and that is a priority position.

And recently, it was suggested Everton are looking at Ben White.

White finds himself in an interesting position.

At the moment, he is behind Jurrien Timber at Arsenal, and that has led to speculation about his future.

White – who cost £50 million (Sky Sports) – has previously been a regular for the Gunners, but injury problems have seen him lose prominence.

But any move to Everton this month seems highly unlikely, with Sky journalist Michael Bridges offering his take on the situation on The Transfer Show on Wednesday morning.

He said: “I don’t think so at the moment. All we can say is a number of clubs in the Premier League and Europe are keeping an eye on his situation.

“He’s had injuries and Jurrien Timber’s form has been fantastic. That’s why he’s been restricted to four Premier League starts this season.

“But I have to say, I mean, Arsenal could win not just the Premier League this season, but a few trophies. They’re really going for it domestically as well. They’re doing brilliantly in Europe.

“He’s made some excellent signings, Arteta, especially in defence. I’d be surprised if this one was to happen.”

Arteta not about to do Everton any favours

He may have once played for Everton, but Arteta is surely not about to do his old club any favours here.

If Arsenal were not in four competitions, then potentially we would be having a different conversation about White amid the interest from Everton.

But the fact is they are, and Arteta can’t be weakening his squad.

White is reportedly open to actually leaving Arsenal, but it would be a major shock if a departure happened this month as the Gunners go in pursuit of a special season.
