Everton’s transfer window has been a whirlwind thus far, and we are barely halfway through July.
Impossible to predict but hugely enjoyable to follow, at last it is refreshing to see a little bit of positivity and proactivity being injected into the Toffees.
After all, for so long they have had to dance around financial regulations, petrified of the punishments that might come.
But, with a few wise departures, all seems well at last. Now, another could finally certify that safety from PSR repercussions.
Dharmesh Sheth provides Everton transfer update
Speaking on the Sky Sports News’ Transfer Talk podcast just yesterday, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth was joined by fellow journalist Sam Tighe to discuss the latest transfer stories from in and around the Premier League.
And, they could not do that without combing over Amadou Onana’s proposed transfer to Aston Villa, a deal expected to be completed very soon.

The Belgian has not been quiet about his desire to depart Goodison Park, and in selling him to the Villans they will get a handsome sum whilst the 22-year-old gets the Champions League football he craves.
Sheth first noted: ’Just sticking on the Villa theme here. Potentially huge deal here between two Premier League clubs. Everton selling Amadou Onana for a fee in the region of £50m to Aston Villa.
‘We know Douglas Luis has gone to Juventus. Is this a good fit for Aston Villa, or will they have to potentially play in a different way?’
Tighe then responded by detailing why Villa wanted the midfielder: ‘Yeah so it’s obviously not a like-for-like replacement. He’s over a foot taller for a start. Very very different players, but I like to think that Villa have planned this one very well.
‘They didn’t want to say goodbye to Luis first and foremost but they’ve had to and they’ll have to figure a way around that. A lot of people have been asking this summer who’s going to be the replacement. Who are they going to buy? I think they bought him last year. Youri Tielemans.’
Amadou Onana’s sale will fund Everton’s entire summer
Set to fetch a fee of £50m, or just over, Amadou Onana’s departure will be somewhat tough to take.
After all, he remains one of the hottest young properties in European football, even if he did not quite prove his worth at Everton.
He simply did not fit into Sean Dyche’s way of playing, and whilst he flattered to deceive too, failing to adapt and showcase the talent everyone knew he had, this inability to progress goes both ways.
However, for the former Burnley boss, to get such a lofty sum for a player so low down in his pecking order is huge.

Already it will put them hugely in the green regarding their net profit for transfers this summer, and provides a much-needed cash injection, especially with Dan Friedkin’s Everton takeover stalling, to continue spending.
Onana’s sale is set to prop up Dyche and Thelwell’s grand plans of revolution.
