Carlo Ancelotti gave an injury update as usual ahead of Everton’s FA Cup tie with Sheffield Wednesday.
The game might be seen as an opportunity to rest and rotate, just as it was in the previous round.
The opponents on that occasion were Rotherham and the Owls are struggling down at the bottom of the Championship, just like them.
That meant Ancelotti was asked about Jean-Philippe Gbamin, who has been a long-term absentee.

He said: “We hope to have him back in training very soon. He will start with light training but we expect him to make a full recovery.”
That doesn’t sound like he’s that close and he’s certainly out of tomorrow’s game then.
Some Toffees cannot wait for him to be back but others fear he’ll never be seen in club colours now.
